I tend to walk to the same places along the same paths day after day. The things I see along the way become familiar, a part of my world. Eventually I begin to feel like I know it perfectly. And then, I cross the street, and everything changes.
Yes, the symmetry is great. Now tell me, do you wait for people to move off your stage ... mostly these places are devoid of ... ... of ... life, I guess. And I suspect that not to be true.
Actually, I more often wait on cars than people. Except for major shopping districts, universities, or other anomalous zones, Beirut is not a pedestrian city. I usually don't have to try at all to get this uninhabited look, especially since many of my favorite subjects are derelict if not abandoned.
Also, I'm still a bit too shy to photograph people, but I'm really trying to overcome this inhibition. I'll get there. I will.
