I love looking at this picture
I love the battered shutters, I love the remnant of decorative balcony balustrade. I love the cinder block atop that little roof which is surely there to keep it from blowing away. I love the crazy mess of wires. I love the two little palms. I love the worn, gradated color of the walls and the underside of the balcony up above.

And I love the way you see so much and can articulate all the things you see.
ReplyDeleteI love all of those things too but especially the battered shutters and worn gradated colour of the walls.
ReplyDeleteThere is alot to love about that image, the shutters for me too, and I love that you took it in Beirut, and that you blogged about it here, in this space which is neither here, there, nor anywhere; but everywhere...
ReplyDeleteI agree - it is a lovely image - I am pleased to have found your blog as I have always wanted to visit Beirut and was about to Easter 2005 when it all exploded again - i too am blogging about a city and country which has a terrible press and image right now but is a charming place to live and travel....look forward to finding out a whole lot more about Beirut...
ReplyDeleteIntriguing building. Love the detail. I can only imagine the stories this building could tell. Do you know how old it is? Even like the dry looking plants to the side.
ReplyDeleteOops, I just fixed the image--I uploaded it with the wrong dimensions. Crazy me. Have a happy week everyone!
