  4. Spring in Lebanon is my favorite!

    The bean things are Carob, in arabic Kharnoub. Lebanese make a molases type syrup out of it. They use in a bunch of different ways, but mostly people mix it with tahini and eat it with bread at breakfast.

  5. Oooh, thank you! I've been watching these pods over the past few weeks. They're still curved, curled up. I'll be interested to see how they progress as they ripen. I've been wondering if they'll straighten and turn black--I've seen those in the fall and it'd be great if they transition there from these beginnings.
