Martyrs Cemetery

Like the other sites I've visited recently, the Martyrs Cemetery is very peaceful, serene.

There are several large cemeteries in Beirut. This one is located near Horch Beirut. It shares a border with the British War Cemetery.

I've really enjoyed my recent cemetery visits. My imagination runs wild in those places surrounded by a lives, deaths, a million stories.

  1. One of my favourite things to do too. When we get to Beirut, how could we get in contact? We'll be working at ACS, and living close by.

  2. Quite an interesting cemetery and looks different from those in my city!
Your posting about the crypt museum today is very interesting - looks like an exciting adventure beneath the ground!

  3. Looks like a beautiful place to walk... can you read the arabic inscriptions ? So much of the pleasure of visiting cemeteries is reading the stories the stones tell.

  4. I agree with Owen. It's a very beautiful place with the blues mixed in with the headstones, but it would drive me crazy to not be able to read any of the information!
