I grew up in a culture that placed great value on its tumble driers.
Here in Beirut, though, it's all about solar and I love it. I persist in the belief that there's no better smell anywhere in the whole world than the scent of freshly line-dried-in-Beirut laundry.

I was always afraid I'd drop the clothes when hanging them outside the fifth floor apartment at my husband's uncle's in Beirut!
ReplyDeleteWe've never had that kind of clothesline, but our neighbors have. More than once, we've had a knock on the door from a neighbor asking after something that fell or blew down from their line above.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, sun dried has a smell of its own.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo with the laundry handing out on the line! Reminds me of how my mom would hang everything out on a huge clothesline in our backyard when I was a kid in Wisconsin!
ReplyDeleteRight. Who needs a dryer.
ReplyDeleteNice illustration.
