This is very Beirut. The grays and monochromes, the antennas, the wires and crowding.
It looks piled up, like a child's set of blocks. I like the red shutters, the one very green balcony, the afternoon sun. I like the texture and shadows.
Everybody's looking for something. Mary Ann is looking for the real Beirut, whatever that means. These are the photos she takes along the way.

Yes, I think I like this, too. But if that were here in Sydney, I would regard it as a slum. Don't understand my own reaction here.
