I must have passed this building a dozen or more times before I really looked at it today. I feel like I saw it for the first time. For the first time I noticed that black and white tile and the angle of the decadent entryway. This is a place with a sense of itself. You can tell when you look at it, you just simply know that once long ago it was swanky.
It's abandoned now, lonely too maybe.

Looks like it could be revived with a little love.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look all that old, really. I wonder why it is no longer used. Dodgy building practices, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see it fixed up and housing people again, but any number of things could be standing in the way.
ReplyDeleteIt might be bad building practices. The famous Holiday Inn has asbestos, and that has kept the place from being renovated or torn down. It's too much to deal with.
Ownership of these properties might also be in dispute. Nothing like disputed ownership to derail a rehab or tear-down initiative.
