Lately, I've been very interested in Beirut's tiled facades. I like how the wires strung all around framed this view of yet another one that I recently found in Hamra.

I can't help feeling bemused and possibly amazed that tiles like this were once the hottest thing in architecture in Beirut.

  1. Those look like nice balconies - I kinda surprised not to see more flowers, plants and trees on them?

  2. i have been looking for anything equivalent here in Sydney but to no avail as yet. I think I might haunt the wrong areas. They look like something out of the '60s and '70s.

  3. Funnily I am looking for tiles now, too! That's your influence, ;-).
In Germany you find them often with shops or shop windows - mostly from the 50's. I'll put one I found last weekend on scrap press.
